The first mention of the village of Galitsy dates back to 1678. Initially, it was part of the Arkhangelsk parish, and a wooden church of Archangel Michael was located 7 km from the village on the banks of the Stilovka River. In 1737, with funds from a merchant from Gorokhovets, I.I. Khalkin, a stone church was built on the site of the wooden church in the Arkhangelsk cemetery. The church operated until 1930, after which it was closed, and the village, like all of Russia, was left without a church. This situation persisted until the beginning of the 21st century, although there were always many believers in the village. A new wooden church was built only recently and consecrated in February 2012. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Galitsy, next to the cemetery where there was previously no church. Today, the church is the center of spiritual life for the village and surrounding areas.
