In the village of Znamenska in the Kulebaki district, the construction of a church dedicated to Tsar Martyr Nicholas II is nearing completion. The rafters for the roof have already been installed, and soon the construction of the domes and crosses will begin. The church is being built thanks to the joint efforts of Cossacks, entrepreneurs, and the administration of the Kulebaki district. A significant contribution to this effort is made by the ataman of the "Priokskoe Cossack" organization, Boris Konychev, under whose initiative the church was laid on January 10, 2011.

The Cossacks are building the church with their own hands, and the work is almost continuous in two shifts: some work on weekdays, others on weekends. "Apparently, the Lord has blessed the Cossacks to build their church with their own hands," believes the spiritual leader of the Cossack community, the rector of the village of Shiloksha, Archpriest Nikolai Boldyrev.

The church is being constructed from wooden beams provided by sawmill workers and entrepreneurs from the Kulebaki district. One local benefactor has generously provided woodworking machines for processing the beams free of charge. Glued, specially processed beams are very expensive, so the opportunity for free processing has been a significant support for the Cossacks, who are assembling the building like a constructor.

"The church is dedicated to Tsar Nicholas, and everyone is trying to contribute to its construction. This is an act of repentance for the ancestors who persecuted the Church and betrayed the Tsar in difficult times," noted Father Nikolai. Valery Anisimov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, who supports several restoring churches, donated a set of bells with relief images of Tsar Nicholas. The bells were cast at the Voronezh Bell Foundry and delivered to Kulebaki.
