Vazyany is a village located in the Vadsky district. According to the "State Lists of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," there is an architectural monument here, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, dated 1835. However, according to the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904, the stone church was built in 1805. The church has altars: the main cold altar dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, as well as warm chapels, the right one in honor of the Meeting of the Lord and the left one dedicated to the prophet Elijah. According to legend, during the campaign against Kazan, Ivan the Terrible visited the village and laid the foundation for a wooden Nicholas church, the tsar's gates of which were preserved until the mid-19th century. The existing stone church was built by landowner Elizabeth Zinovyeva.

Currently, there are no permanent residents in the village; only summer residents inhabit it. The iron roof of the dome and the finial were destroyed, presumably in 2008, likely due to a lightning strike.
