In Tiinsk, a church was built in 1780 with funds from parishioners. By 1840, it had fallen into disrepair due to roof leaks. In 1857, the church was rebuilt and consecrated anew. The building was wooden on a stone foundation, with a wooden bell tower covered in iron. The church had two altars: in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow. From 1848 to 1867, the church remained unheated, but in 1868, the altar in honor of St. Alexius was insulated. The church could accommodate 800 parishioners. In 1886, a fence was built around the church. The building was not insured. There were wooden houses for clergy near the church.

During the Soviet period, the church was closed and used as a warehouse. The bell tower was dismantled, and the domes and crosses were destroyed. After the revolution, the building served as a village house of culture until 1988, when a new building was constructed for the cultural center. From 1993 to 1996, people temporarily lived in the former club until they built new housing for themselves.

A few years ago, an initiative group of residents decided to revive the church. The building was returned to the parish. Although its appearance does not yet conform to church canons, a reconstruction project for the church and the surrounding area has already been developed.
