The village of Teteryno is located 50 versts from Vladimir and 15 versts from Suzdal. Until the second half of the 18th century, Teteryno was a village that, along with the neighboring village of Nikolskaya, belonged to the parish of the village of Lopatnitsy, situated 7 versts across the Snigir River. Due to the remoteness and inaccessibility of the church during the flood season, the residents of Teteryno and Nikolskaya decided to build their own church and establish their own parish.

On March 20, 1767, the peasants of these villages appealed to Bishop Gennady of Suzdal and Vladimir for permission to build a church in Teteryno. That same year, a blessed decree was issued for construction. The first church was wooden, dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The original clergy included Priest Stefan Fedorov, Deacon Alexey Alexeev, and Sacristan Luka Alexeev. In 1767, the peasants allocated 5 desyatins of land and 30 bundles of hay for the maintenance of each clergy member. In 1773, by the decree of Empress Catherine II, a new allotment was made, including 80 fathoms of homestead land, 3 desyatins of meadow, and 30 desyatins of arable land.

The wooden church existed until 1813. In 1811, the construction of a stone five-domed church began, funded by the owner of the village, Privy Councillor Merkulov. First, a warm chapel with an altar in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul was built and consecrated in 1813. The main cold church with an altar in honor of St. Nicholas was completed in 1821. In 1851, by Merkulov's order, a copper plate with an inscription about its origin was installed in the church. Merkulov made significant contributions to the church, including two gilded silver reliquaries, two vessels, a silver reliquary with gilding inside, three gilded silver crosses, two Gospels, and a silver censer.

Church documents have been preserved intact: copies of the metric books since 1801, confession lists since 1830, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1880. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. The annual income of the parish amounts to 441 rubles in silver, of which 140 rubles come from land, 281 rubles from sacramental fees, and 20 rubles from interest on church capital. Houses for the clergy were built by the parishioners. The parish includes the village and the village of Nikolskaya, located one verst from the church, with 79 households and a population of 283 men and 288 women.
