The village of Sladchanka is located on the border of Shadrinsk district with Yalutorovsk in the Tobolsk province, 270 versts from Yekaterinburg and 70 versts from Shadrinsk, on the Iset River in an almost treeless valley. The climate here is moderate and healthy, and the soil is black earth. According to popular legend, more than 150 years ago this area was rich in natural resources: the river was abundant with fish, and on both sides stretched flood meadows that provided lush hay. On one side of the river, birch forests extended, while on the other, a dense pine forest, home to many birds, berries, and mushrooms. The first settlers, impressed by the beauty of the area, named the village 'Sweet.' The exact time of the establishment of the Sladchanka parish is unknown, but based on the clerical records of 1829 and data from the Tobolsk provincial records of 1858, it can be assumed that it occurred between 1754 and 1758. Oral tradition states that the parish separated from the Mekhonsky.
Until 1771, the Sladchanka parish was under the jurisdiction of the Rafailov spiritual administration, and then it transferred to the Kurgan order, from where it was moved to the Shadrinsk spiritual administration in 1786. Little is known about the first church in the village. According to the clerical records of 1829, the church was wooden with a separate bell tower, and according to popular tradition, it was built from a wooden chapel. The church was laid on May 26, 1754, and consecrated in the name of St. Nicholas on May 7, 1758. Later, an altar in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was added to the church, consecrated in May 1782. In 1830, the church burned down, with only the bell tower surviving. In the same year, by order of the Shadrinsk spiritual administration, parishioners were allowed to transport a wooden church from the village of Mekhonsky to Sladchanka.
In 1834, the church was restored, and on November 27, its altar in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated. The iconostasis for this altar was taken from the old church of the village of Baklanskoye. In the same year, Sladchanka parishioners were allowed to acquire and transport the iconostasis from the Maslyansk church for the second altar, which was consecrated in the name of St. Nicholas in 1837. Although parishioners were tasked with building a stone church, they took no action for a long time, and for over 30 years, the Mekhonsk cemetery church was listed in the village. Only on May 9, 1867, did the construction of the stone church begin, and on July 2, 1872, the altar in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated. After that, the wooden church was transferred to the village of Iryum. On May 7, 1878, the main church was consecrated. The church honors three icons: St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Mother of God 'It is Truly Meet,' painted on Athos, and the icon of All Saints, created in memory of the salvation of the imperial family in 1888.
