The village was founded in the 17th and early 18th centuries by refugee peasants from the steppe regions of the right bank of the Volga. In 1897, thanks to the initiative of I. I. Pokrovsky, a primary school opened in the village, where peasant children could study. In 1900, a stone cold church was built in the village of Skachikha, Balashov district, Saratov province, through the efforts of landowner Andrei Petrovich Schmidt. The church staff included a priest and a psalmist; the priest lived in a house by the church. A zemstvo school also operated in the village.

In 1929, a collective farm was established in the village. It consisted of thirty members who had seven horses, six cows, and two plows at their disposal. Within a year, almost all individual households in the village joined the collective farm. On February 17, 1930, by the decree of the presidium of the Lower Volga region, the church in the village of Skachikha was closed, and its building was repurposed as a people's house.
