The church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Lopatino, Volzhsky District of Samara Region, was built in 1848. In 1929, during the period of collectivization, the church was closed and repurposed as a grain storage facility. The building stood until the end of 1978, when it was demolished.

In 2003, the residents of Lopatino decided to build a new church. A parish council of ten people was elected at a meeting. On July 4, 2008, Archpriest Alexander Shparvart, the rector of the Church of John of Kronstadt in the village of Rubezhnoye, consecrated the site for construction. Construction work began in 2009. On May 31, 2010, a ready-made log cabin was brought from Kirov, and over the summer, a new parish in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was erected. On April 15, 2011, Archpriest Georgy Kozin laid a capsule, and on the same day, the domes were installed. The first liturgy took place on May 22 of the same year. In April 2013, a bell tower with six bells was installed on the northern side of the bell tower.
