The village of Perevalovo, one of the oldest in the Tyumen region, celebrated its 310th anniversary in 2007. The history of the village is full of interesting facts, including the mention of merchant Prokopy Ivanovich Podaruev, who was born in 1818. The first guild merchant Podaruev did much for Perevalovo: with his funds, a chapel, a reading room, and the Alexeyevskoye people's school were built, the building of which has survived to this day.

One of his last good deeds was the construction of the stone church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. During the years of persecution against the Church, the temple, like many others in Russia, was closed. After the war, its domes were demolished, doors and windows were broken, and the interior decoration was destroyed. However, the foundation and walls have been preserved. Today, the church is in need of restoration and is under the care of the Committee for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of the Tyumen Region.

On August 14, 2007, Archbishop Dmitry of Tobolsk and Tyumen visited Perevalovo and blessed the start of restoration work. A fence with gates was erected around the church: cast-iron structures between brick supports stretching 248 meters. Since 2003, a home church has been operating at the temple, where services are regularly held and Sacraments are performed. In 2007, a building for the Sunday school in honor of Archangel Michael was constructed in the village of Zubarevo.

The spiritual revival of the village has begun, and work on the restoration of the church continues. The initial task of enclosing the territory was accomplished with local efforts, but significant funds were needed for the restoration of the vaults and roof.

The sudden global crisis affected many sectors of the economy, including construction. The parish council appealed for help to other organizations. The Siberian Training Center "Schlumberger" responded to the requests, donating 3.5 million rubles for the restoration of the church, considering it important to preserve moral guidelines in difficult times. In 2010, six vaults of the church were fully restored, and work is currently underway to restore the central drum and bell tower.
