The village of Pechersk is located in a picturesque spot on the banks of the Volga River. Here, Stepan Razin passed with his five-thousand-strong detachment, burlak crews towed heavily loaded vessels upstream, and Peter I and Catherine II stopped during their travels along the Volga. The village was founded in 1684. There is a version that it got its name due to the numerous caves located on the riverbank.

In 1864, a church was built in the village in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. A stone tower was erected on the church grounds, dedicated by the parishioners to the liberator Tsar Alexander II.

In 1939, the church was closed, and the building was used as a school, grain storage, and a village club, which burned down in 1997.

A new church was built in 2006 with funds from a native of the village, Viktor Fedorovich Kazberov, his wife Valentina, and their children Vladimir, Lyudmila, and Svetlana, with the support of the head of the Syzran district, Vyacheslav Nikolaevich Podobulin, and the director of 'PMK Rayonnaya', Alexander Petrovich Yurenkov.
