The church is made of stone, a parish church, combining summer and winter temples in one building. It has three altars: St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Tikhvin Mother of God, and St. Blessed Prince Dmitry of Uglich, which is located in the winter chapel. The church was built between 1841 and 1853 with funds from Captain-Lieutenant Afanasy Ivanovich Bashmakov. The church houses relics of saints: St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Venerable Moses the Ugrian, Great Martyr Barbara, Venerable Pechersk saints: Ignatius, Silouan, Ephraim, and Macarius, St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called, and St. Orestes of Pechersk, placed in a silver casket of cross shape.
The church land comprises 140 desyatins and 1503 square fathoms, with church houses for the residence of priests and a deacon. The church capital amounts to 4622 rubles. The parish has 1788 men and 2164 women. The village is located on a plain by the river Toporka. The parish operates schools: the Nikolo-Topor parish school, zemstvo schools in the villages of Platunovo and Chernitsyno, as well as a literacy school in the village of Nefino. The parish staff includes two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists. The parish capital totals 4702 rubles.
