In the early 21st century, the first church, St. Nicholas Church, appeared in the Parfenyevsky district, located in the settlement of railway workers Nikolo-Poloma. The wooden church was built on the initiative and under the guidance of Georgy Dmitrievich Fedorenko, the director of a grain reception enterprise and later the head of LLC 'Lesnoe', who was a patriot of the Parfenyev land. The church is conveniently located on a hill in the center of the settlement. The first service took place at the end of May 2002, conducted by the archpriest of the Galich district, Father Alexander Shastin, priest Vitaly, hieromonk Alexander from the Moscow region, and the rector of the church, priest Andrey Andreev. The church delights with its external and internal decorations. The iconostasis was brought from an abandoned church in the village of Vvedenie and restored with funds from a resident of the village of Parfenyevo, Valery Alexandrovich Andreev, who bequeathed 30 thousand rubles to the church. Local residents also brought several ancient icons, and some icons were ordered by Georgy Dmitrievich Fedorenko from a specialized center in the Moscow region.
