Фото 1
The Nikolskaya Church in Volnino, also known as Tsarevna, is built of stone and is distinguished by its durability. The church has three altars: the main one dedicated to Saint and Wonderworker Nicholas, a winter chapel in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh, and an altar in honor of Saint Tsarevich Dmitry of Uglich. The church was erected by parishioners in 1816 on the site of an old wooden one.

The name "Nikolskaya" is associated with the church holiday and the hilly terrain, while the church is called "Tsarevna" due to the legend that the mother of Tsarevich Dmitry lived here, or according to another version, Tsarevna Sofia Alexeyevna. The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos "Relieve My Sorrows" is especially venerated in the church. There are two wooden chapels in the vicinity: one in the field a quarter of a verst from the church, and the other in Krivtsovo, four versts away.

The church owns 46 desyatins of land. There are three church houses: for the priest, for the church school, and for the teacher. The church capital amounts to 4100 rubles. The parish has 365 men and 410 women. There is a church school in the village, a charity, and a library of the Uglich Society of Sobriety. The clergy staff includes a priest and a psalmist, who receive a state salary of 392 rubles.
