The village of Mordysh is located 22 versts from Vladimir and 13 versts from Suzdal, situated on the Nerl River. Since the first half of the 15th century, it has belonged to the Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery, which received it as a gift from Grand Duke Vasily Vasilyevich by the will of his nephew, Prince Semyon Alexandrovich.

In the village, there is a stone church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, built in the first half of the 19th century with funds from the parishioners. Next to it is a warm refectory with two altars in honor of the Meeting of the Lord and the holy prophet Elijah, as well as a stone bell tower. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books, among which is an ancient Gospel printed in the year 7168.

Church documents are preserved in full order: copies of the metric books have been kept since 1802, confession lists since 1827, and an inventory of church property was compiled in 1864. The church land includes about 1.5 desyatins of homestead land, 3 desyatins of haymaking land, and 30 desyatins of arable land, for which there is a plan and boundary book.

According to the statute, the parish consists of a priest and a psalmist. The annual income of the parish amounts to up to 675 rubles in silver, obtained from land and sacramental fees. The parish houses are located on church land and belong to them. The parish includes one village with 129 households, where 440 men and 446 women reside. Since 1874, a church-parish school has been operating in the village.
