The village of Laptevo is located 29 versts from the city of Vladimir. Until the early 18th century, it was known as the village of Fedosovo. In 1710, the local landowner, chamberlain Ivan Perfilevich Arsenyev, built a wooden church here, which was consecrated in 1712 by the abbot of the Bogolyubovo Monastery, Sergius, in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church had a priest, a deacon, and a prosphora-baker. In 1747, another wooden church was built in Laptevo, dedicated to the Sign of the Mother of God.

These churches operated until 1819, when, with the blessing of Bishop Xenophon of Vladimir, a stone church was built. It had two altars: the main one in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and another in the refectory in honor of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. In 1882, the refectory was expanded, and a chapel dedicated to St. Demetrius of Thessalonica was added. The bell tower of the church was also made of stone and built simultaneously with it.

The church archive contains the church foundation charter from 1710, signed by Metropolitan Stefan of Ryazan, issued to Arsenyev for the construction of the church in Laptevo, as well as a decree from 1747 for the construction of a warm church in honor of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church documents are in good condition: copies of the metric books from 1803 and confession lists from 1823. The church's land holdings include three-quarters of a tenement of estate land and an additional 1.5 tenements of arable and meadow land, as well as 29 tenements of arable and 3 tenements of unsuitable meadow land provided by the Bobkins.

According to the parish staff, there is a priest and a psalmist who receive about 470 rubles a year from services, requirements, and land. The parish has its own houses on church land. The parish includes the village of Laptevo and the villages of Bliznina, Konstantinovka, and Pishikha, where the clerical records list 564 men and 607 women. In the village of Laptevo, there is a zemstvo public school, and in the village of Bliznina, a church-parish school has been operating since 1886.
