The village of Filippovskoye is located on the Sera River, 120 versts from Vladimir and 56 versts from Murom. The church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is mentioned in the land books of 1628, but the date of its construction is unknown. In 1684, a new wooden church was built in Filippovskoye in honor of the same saint, which existed until the construction of the stone temple in 1821. This temple has three altars: the main one in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and in the warm chapels, in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, consecrated in 1818. The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. Among the icons, those of the Savior, the Smolensk Mother of God, and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker stand out for their antiquity and adornments. All church documents are kept intact, including copies of the metric books since 1803 and confession lists since 1828.

According to the staff, there are two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists at the church. Their maintenance is ensured by a percentage capital, income from arable land, services, and sacramental fees, amounting to up to 2500 rubles per year. The clergy members have their own houses on church land. The parish includes the village, nine hamlets, and one small village, where the clerical records list 2047 men and 2299 women. The village has a literacy school and a zemstvo public school, and in the village of Olenino, a church-parish school has been operating since 1891, funded by a local merchant.
