Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Epifanovka

Фото 1
In 1870, a wooden cold church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in Epifanovka with the funds from parishioners. At the beginning of the 20th century, this church burned down, and in 1914, a new red brick church was constructed on its site, preserving the original dedication. Donations were collected for the construction by visiting villages. Bricks were laid exclusively in the summer, lime was slaked for a long time, and egg yolks were used for strength to ensure the building would last for centuries. The people of Epifanovka were skilled in this craft: they mixed the clay themselves, made the bricks, and fired them.

In the 1930s, the church was closed.

Only in 2005 did the revival of this century-old church begin, and in 2010, the first service was held in the ancient church.
