For the residents of the village of Dmitrievka in the Radishchevsky district, the church became a symbol of resilience in the face of difficulties. The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos survived the events of October 1917, was closed in the 1930s, and was almost forgotten in the 1990s. However, for the 125th anniversary of the first Orthodox church in the village, all its residents gathered.

The anniversary events took place with the blessing of Archpriest Nikolai Levanov, the rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in the working settlement of Radishchevo, with the participation of representatives from the local administration. Yulia Baryshnikova, the head of the library and assistant to the chairman of the parish council, spoke about the history of the church. She noted that the church and prayer house in Dmitrievka were built in 1889 and were very popular among local residents. The altar was consecrated in honor of the feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, and the church was called the Intercession Church. In 1896, the first school opened at the church, where lessons were taught by the priest himself. Later, a four-year school building was constructed. Unfortunately, after October 1917, persecution of the church began, and the Intercession Church was closed in the mid-1930s.
