Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Chumakino

Фото 1
The building of the church has a square shape in plan, with a semicircular apse to the east and a similarly shaped western part. It is covered by a four-pitched vaulted roof, while the apse and its symmetrical western part have semicircular vaults. At the base of the two-tiered bell tower are four square pillars.

The church's square section is topped with a massive dome. The two-tiered bell tower was adorned with a dome and a spire.

The main dimensions of the church are 24.8 by 11.2 meters.

A feature of the plan is the presence of two axes of symmetry. This church is characterized by massive volumes and strict, concise decor. The compositional and stylistic features allow the building to be attributed to the first half of the 19th century.

The walls of the western part of the church and the window openings are partially destroyed, and the roof has been lost. Wooden porches have been added to the entrances of the church. The original interior decoration has not survived, and the dome on the bell tower was lost in the early 1990s. Some frescoes have partially survived on the walls.

During the Soviet era, the church building was used as a storage facility for consumer cooperatives.

Currently, the cultural heritage site, a monument of history and culture of regional significance "Church of St. Nicholas, Orthodox parish church" from 1831, is in a neglected state.
