Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Chufarovo

Leonty Lukyanovich Chufarov, having founded the "Chufarovskaya sloboda," simultaneously built a chapel there, which he transformed into a church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in 1677.

On January 6, 2013, a fire occurred in the village of Chufarovo, resulting in the church burning down. According to unconfirmed information, this church was handed over to the Lyakhovsky parish. However, the rector of the Znamenskaya church in Lyakhovka claims that there are no documents for this temple, and it does not have church status. Previously, this building did serve as a temple, but during Soviet times it was used as a warehouse. When the revival began, it turned out that the documents for the building were lost. Despite this, services were held in it for several years. The rector does not plan to restore the burned building and has stated that the old red brick church will be repaired.

The residents and the administration of the settlement support the idea of restoring the temple. The burned church was used in winter, while the red brick church was used in summer. Plans are in place to restore both buildings.
