The village of Chernizh is located 27 versts from Vladimir and 4 versts from Suzdal. In the village stands a stone church dedicated to Saint and Wonderworker Nicholas, built in 1755 through the efforts of the parishioners. In 1834, a stone warm refectory with two altars was added to the church: in honor of Saint Sergius of Radonezh the Wonderworker and the holy icon of the Kazan Mother of God. This was made possible thanks to the efforts of landowner Ekaterina Ivanovna Krechetnikova. There is also a stone bell tower.

The church documents have been preserved in full order: copies of the metric books have been kept since 1802, confession lists since 1822, and an inventory of church property was compiled in 1872. The church land includes 360 square fathoms of homestead land, 1 tithe of haymaking land, and 32 tithes of arable land, but there is no plan for the land. According to the parish staff, there is a priest and a psalmist. The income of the parish from land and for sacramental services amounts to up to 414 silver rubles per year. The parish houses belong to the church. The village has 54 households, 222 men, and 292 women. There is also a literacy school in the village.
