The independent parish in the village of Ustinskoye was founded in 1859. The wooden church, built in 1861, was consecrated in honor of Saint Nicholas. It was located 300 versts from Vyatka, 93 versts from Yaran, and 50 versts from the archpriest Filaret Domrachev. The stone Nicholas church was erected and consecrated on February 10, 1897.

The parish staff included one priest, one deacon, and one psalmist, for whom state apartments were provided.

The land holdings consisted of: homestead, 3 desyatinas 72 sazhen, arable land, 24 desyatinas 1560 sazhen, hayfields, 24 desyatinas 2040 sazhen, and wasteland, 2 desyatinas 24 sazhen.

The parish income was distributed as follows: the priest received 683 rubles 85 kopecks, the deacon 455 rubles 90 kopecks, and the psalmist 227 rubles 95 kopecks. The parish also collected up to 60 poods of rye and 80 poods of oats.

The parish included 1365 Orthodox men and 1632 women, 239 baptized Cheremis men and 251 women, as well as 237 Old Believer men and 255 women.

The parish included 16 settlements located 2-8 versts away. The village was on the right bank of the Usty River, along a rural road, and the main occupation of the parishioners was agriculture.

During the Soviet era, the church was rarely closed. In December 1989, its restoration began, and on December 19, 1990, the church opened without a priest. In January 1991, three bells were brought from Voronezh.
