The Nikolaev Church in the village of Belyshevo includes three temples. The stone church, dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, was built in 1853 thanks to the efforts of the parishioners. The wooden church, dedicated to Saint Martyr Haralampius, was constructed in 1751 by Prince Ivan Odoevsky with the support of the parishioners. Another wooden church, in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, was erected in 1752 by the same prince and the parishioners. All three churches are surrounded by a single stone fence, and the stone bell tower is located by the Resurrection Church. The cemetery is situated one verst from the church. To Varnavino, 75 versts. The nearest churches are: the Archangel Church in the village of Arkhangelskoye on the Volga, 6 versts away; the Archangel Church in the village of Novo-Mikhaylovskoye, 7 versts away; the Trinity Church in the village of Turani; and the Assumption Church in the village of Pechenkino in the Vetluzhsky district, 13 versts away; the Resurrection Cathedral in the city of Vetluga, 15 versts away.

The wooden church, built in 1732, had altars in honor of Saint Nicholas, the Three Ecumenical Saints, and Saint Mary Magdalene, the myrrh-bearer. Another wooden church, erected in 1731, was dedicated to Saint Martyr Haralampius, Saint Tikhon of Amathus, and Saint Great Martyr Dimitrius of Thessalonica. The stone church with a bell tower, featuring two domes, was built in 1853 with funds from Prince Platon Alexeyevich Meshchersky. The altars of this church are dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, the icon of the Mother of God "Kazan," and the holy martyrs Platon and Nadezhda.

The wooden churches have not survived.
