The monastery grounds are an irregular polygon, elongated from west to east, and are surrounded by a fence with four towers and the gate church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, located above the Holy Gates on the eastern side. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, was built in 1685 during the tenure of Igumen Ion, who succeeded St. Mitrophan. It is a single-domed structure without columns, to which the refectory was added between 1849 and 1854. In 1993, the monastery was revived as a women's convent. In 1994, the Makaryevsky church was consecrated, and the following year, the relics of St. Makary were returned to the monastery. Prayers and services resumed. In 2016, by decree of the Holy Synod, the monastery was transformed into a men's convent.
