The Church of Archangel Michael, also known as the Mikhailovskaya Tower, is one of the churches of Yuriev Monastery. The tower was built in 1760, and in 1831, a church was established within it. During the Great Patriotic War, it was destroyed during the battles for Novgorod. The restoration of the tower's shape occurred in the 1950s, and the church's dome was restored in the 2010s.

Yuriev Monastery, also known as Yuriev-George or Holy Yuriev Monastery, is a male monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church dedicated to the great martyr George. It is one of the oldest monasteries in Russia, which in the Middle Ages was the spiritual center of the Novgorod Republic and a significant spiritual feudal entity. It is located on the southern outskirts of Veliky Novgorod, on the banks of the Volkhov River. Until 1918, the monastery held the status of a first-class abode, and the monastic community was restored in 1995.

The monastery is a cultural heritage site of federal significance.
