Church of Archangel Michael in the Resurrection Theodorov Monastery

Фото 1
The Church of Archangel Michael is a modest example of provincial Empire style. The architectural composition of the building includes a low main square that slightly rises above the almost equal rectangular refectory and the rounded altar apse. The balance of the structure is not disturbed by the lower western narthex, which was added to the refectory later. Above the low attic of the square rises a wide drum with a gentle dome. The side facades of the square are adorned with triangular pediments. Three arched openings are completed with wide archivolts, and the profiled bands highlight the frieze and imposts. The walls of the refectory and apse, with rectangular windows in wide frames, are decorated with a rusticated pattern up to the level of the imposts. The facades of these parts are topped with cornices featuring narrow attics.

The church is covered with a barrel vault, which is divided between the refectory and the square by a supporting arch; to the west, it is closed by a trough, and the apse is completed with a conch. The narthex has a flat ceiling.
