The Archangel Church, built in 1759, had a bell tower and a set of five bells, the largest of which weighed about 835 kg. According to local residents, the sound of this bell could be heard even in Syzran. Inside the church was a beautiful six-tiered iconostasis.

After the arrest of the clergy in 1937, the church was closed. Icons were used as counters in a store, and the wrought iron fence was sold for scrap metal. The appearance of the church remained unchanged until the 1950s, when the bell tower, domes, and upper tier of windows were destroyed. The building was converted into a cultural center and club. For some time, church gate posts stood in front of the building, on which banners were hung during Soviet holidays, but they have not survived to this day.

There is no information about the fate of the Trinity Church, and even local old-timers do not remember its existence.

Since 2003, Zhemkovka has once again become a full-fledged village, where a temple has opened. However, services are not held in the old building, which was converted into a cultural center during Soviet times, but in the former priest's house. The old church building has been handed over to the faithful, but services are not conducted there as it requires major repairs and reconstruction.
