The Arkhangelsk Pogost, located on the Stilovka River, is 7 versts from the district town and 160 versts from the provincial capital. A church existed here as early as the beginning of the 17th century. In the land registry books of the Gorokhovets district from 1628-1630, it is mentioned: "Arkhangelsk pogost, on the pogost a wooden church of Archangel Michael, a secular building, with 3 bells on the bell tower."

In 1737, a stone temple was built in the Arkhangelsk pogost with the funds of the Gorokhovets merchant Ivan Ivanovich Kholkin, replacing the previous wooden church. Until 1875, the temple remained unchanged, and in that year it was expanded on the western side. The interior decoration has recently been completely updated.

The temple has two altars: the main one in honor of the Meeting of the Lord, and in the warm refectory, in the name of the archistrategos Michael.
