Church of Archangel Michael in Ternovoe

Фото 1
Not far from the village of Inzhavino, in the village of Ternovoe, is the oldest active church in the Inzhavinsky district. The church, consecrated in honor of the Archangel Michael, was built between 1880 and 1883 with funds from the parishioners. From the mid-1930s until 1945, the Michael-Archangel Church was closed to the faithful. Now, services are held here regularly.

The Church of Archangel Michael is a single-altar wooden church with one dome and an attached bell tower. The main relic of the church is the miraculous icon of the Karandeevskaya Mother of God, known for its miracles since the 19th century. Originally, the icon was located in the church of the village of Karandeevka. During the persecution of the church, when the church in Karandeevka was destroyed, the icon was desecrated and cut into pieces. According to legend, its fragments were discovered by a pious parishioner who heard a woman's cry from a pile of debris. Subsequently, a covering was made for the icon, and pilgrimage to it resumed. Attempts by the authorities to seize the icon and stop the pilgrimage were unsuccessful. In the late 1980s, when the threat of seizure passed, the icon was voluntarily transferred to the surviving church in the village of Ternovoe.
