Church of Archangel Michael in Spasskoye

Фото 1
The village of Spasskoye, located 9 versts from Vladimir, is one of the ancient settlements of the Vladimir region. In 1504, Grand Duke Ivan Vasilyevich issued a non-judicial charter that transferred the estates of Metropolitan Simon to monasteries and villages, including Spasskoye. Later, Spasskoye was listed as a palace patriarchal village and then came under the administration of the Holy Synod. After the abolition of church estates, the peasants became state-owned. The first charter mentions that there was a church in Spasskoye, although information about it only appears from the early 17th century. The patriarchal tax records of 1628 mention the 'Church of the Archangel Michael in the patriarchal estate in the village of Spasskoye.'

Currently, there is a warm church in the village of Spasskoye, built in 1799 with funds from landowner Yazykova. It is dedicated to Archangel Michael. The church documents have been well preserved: there are copies of the metric books from 1803 and confession lists from 1828.
