The church is located in the village of Semyonovskoye in the Braitovsky district, near the village of Pokrovskoye, on the right bank of the river. Although the village of Semyonovskoye itself has disappeared, the church and the surrounding cemetery remind us of the past life in these places.

The church was built in 1806 with funds from parishioners and was reconstructed in 1873 thanks to donations from peasants of the village of Knyaginino, and in 1868, from the village of Mikhaylovskoye. This stone building features five domes and a tiered bell tower. In 1874, the church was painted, and in 1888 and 1911, the paintings were updated.

The church has three altars: in honor of the Archangel Michael and other Heavenly Powers, in honor of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, and in honor of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the miracle worker. The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God was especially venerated.

During the Soviet era, the church housed a garage, and in 1970, a locksmith workshop.

In 2006, the restoration of the church was undertaken by V.Ya. Polenov, a distinguished builder from Moscow. He developed a work plan and signed a contract with the dean of the Braitovsky district, Archpriest A.N. Denisov, which was successfully completed. The roof was restored, a brick wall was built up in the side wall where vehicles used to enter, and two windows similar to the others were installed in its place. The church was plastered on the outside, and the surrounding area was cleaned and tidied up. Order was also restored inside. A lot of effort and resources were required to complete this work. V.Ya. Polenov plans to order, transport, and install a dome.
