According to the clerical books from 1637-1647, a church is mentioned in the village of Saryevo, which had five households of laborers, 24 peasant households, and 10 households of non-farming laborers. In 1846, a fire occurred in the altar, damaging the icon of the Mother of God and the antimins, leading to the church being consecrated again with the blessing of Patriarch Joseph.

The clerical books from 1653 list the households of priests, deacons, sacristans, and prosphora bakers, as well as three households of church laborers. The parish had 124 peasant households and 13 laborer households. The church lands were not rich: 16 chetvi of arable land and 20 stacks of hay by the Tara River. From the church foundation charter of 1759, issued by Bishop Antoniy of Vladimir, it follows that at that time there was already an old wooden church in Saryevo dedicated to St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker, built long before.

In 1763, a new wooden church was built in its place in honor of the same saint. Thus, in the second half of the 18th century, there were two wooden churches in Saryevo. In 1819, the construction of a stone church began, with the cold altar consecrated in 1827 and the warm altar in 1829. The church has three altars: the main one in the name of Archangel Michael, in the refectory, in honor of the Smolensk icon of the Mother of God, and in the name of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. Old icons of the Smolensk, Vladimir, and Kazan Mother of God have been preserved, as well as the image of the Miracle of Archangel Michael; the first and last icons are adorned with silver vestments. The altar Gospel, published during the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, three books of the Prologue from the 17th century, the church foundation charter from Patriarch Filaret in 1628, and the church consecration charter from Patriarch Joseph in 1648 have also been preserved.

The parish includes a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is provided by the interest from the parish capital of 5,275 rubles, 211 rubles, and income from services and sacramental rites up to 600 rubles per year. The homes of the parish members are located on church land. The land near the church includes: homestead land of 1 desyatina 600 sazhen, arable land of 37 desyatinas 1278 sazhen, clerical land in the wasteland of Popovka, 3 versts from the church, 34 desyatinas and 1030 sazhen of small forest; there is no meadow land. There are plans and boundary books for the land. The parish includes the village of Saryevo and the villages of Lepeshkina, Popkova, Zharov, Gorok, Palkina, Ushakova, Kostyunina, Aleshina, and Vyazovki. According to the clerical records, there are 613 men and 645 women in these villages. Since 1870, a zemstvo school has been operating in Saryevo.
