The village, and later the settlement, located in the western part of the Buzuluk district on the Domashka River, is 28 km from the city of Buzuluk. It was founded in 1799 by landowner Myaskov and was originally called Myaskovka. Later, in honor of the new landowner, presumably Alexander Mineevich Denisov, the settlement was renamed Denisovka. The first inhabitants were settlers from the Kharkov, Kursk, and Voronezh provinces. In 1850, a wooden church was built in the name of the Archangel Michael. Forty years later, in honor of landowner Proskurin, the settlement received its third name, which has remained to this day.

Historically, the church was located at the intersection of roads from three villages, as if in the center between them. Over time, as the villages merged, the church ended up on the outskirts, away from the settlement. In 1930, the church was closed and used as a storage facility for agricultural products. It was fully restored in 2006. Notably, some old frescoes have been preserved, which are historical cultural monuments.
