The Church of Archangel Michael in the village of Pirogovka, built over 150 years ago, is the main attraction and spiritual center of the village. It is located on a hill and retains its significance to this day.

In 1839, a prayer house was opened in Pirogovka in honor of the Archangel Michael, where a priest, deacon, and sexton served. The first priest was Arseniy Khryashchev, under whom the construction of a wooden church on a stone foundation with a bell tower began. However, in 1846, when the church was almost ready for consecration, it burned down in a fire. Services continued in the prayer house until 1861, when a new church was built and consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael. It was a beautiful wooden temple on a stone base.

In 1938, the church was closed, and services ceased. The building was used as a warehouse and granary. During the years of atheism, some of the bells were removed, and the icons were taken by villagers to their homes for safekeeping. Later, in calmer times, the icons were returned to the church. In 1946, the church reopened, and services resumed.

The church is unique in that the graves of former rectors have been preserved on its grounds. The first belongs to Sergey Georgievich Tsvetkov and dates back to 1913. Priest Vladimir Semyonovich Vodopyanov is also buried here. The graves are well cared for.

Currently, the church is undergoing repairs thanks to the efforts of the rector, Father Nikolai, and donations from parishioners. The priest himself paints the domes and works on the metal ladders and fencing of the church, lovingly and diligently renewing the interior decoration.
