Фото 1
On July 1, 1880, the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church began functioning in Orsk, and the square around it received the same name. Today, this place is known as Malyshevsky Garden. In the summer of 1885, the church burned down, but three years later it was restored. In 1916, a second stone church was built in Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Square, which stood for 14 years but was completely dismantled in the 1930s.

In March 2002, Metropolitan Valentin of Orenburg and Buzuluk appointed Priest Sergey Stepashilin as the rector of the future Church of St. Archangel Michael. In September of the same year, a plot of land was allocated for the construction of the church in the Gudron settlement of the Stepnoy microdistrict. A Cross procession was held, and a Pilgrim Cross was erected at the site of the future church, along with the preparation of a project. It was decided to temporarily use two railway cars as a church.

By 2008, the foundation and basement of the church were laid on Krasnoflotskaya Street thanks to donations from parishioners, organizations, and support from city authorities, including the involvement of the head of the "Orsk" airport, Sergey Nikolaevich Sukharev. By 2011, the construction of the basement was completed, brick walls were erected under the roof, and materials for the dome were purchased. A water blessing chapel was built at the church, and the walls of a cemetery chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" were erected. In October 2012, Bishop Iriney of Orsk and Gai appointed Priest Gennady Novikov as the rector of the church, who still serves there today.

The construction of the church lasted 15 years, and throughout this time, services were held in railway cars. On October 17, 2017, Bishop Iriney of Orsk and Gai, along with the deputy head of the city for internal policy, Sergey Dunaev, cut the ribbon at the entrance to the church, congratulating the parishioners on the long-awaited event. After that, a prayer service with water blessing took place, followed by the first Divine Liturgy, and then a Cross procession through the settlement with the participation of the Orsk Cossack Society led by Ataman Mikhail Statsenko. Rector Gennady Novikov expressed special gratitude to the charitable foundation "Safmar."
