Church of Archangel Michael in Mikhailovitsa

Фото 1
The Archangel church in the village of Mikhailovitsa, built of stone along with a bell tower, was erected in 1844 thanks to the efforts of the parishioners and the former owner Kandalintsev. A stone fence with iron grilles surrounds the church. The cemetery is located outside the fence, half a verst from the church, and is enclosed by a wooden fence. The church has three altars: in the cold part, in honor of the archistrateg Michael and other Powers, in the warm part the right one, in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, and the left one, in honor of Saint Nicholas of Myra. Two icons are especially venerated: the Tolga Mother of God and Saint Tikhon of Amathus. It is 360 versts to Kostroma, and 134 versts to Vetluga. The nearest churches are: the Ilyinskaya in the village of Klyuchi 10 versts away, the Cross Exaltation church in the village of Vozdvizhenskoe 12 versts away, the Nikolayevskaya in the village of Pyshug 13 versts away, and the Nativity of Christ church in the village of Kokrina 24 versts away.

In the 17th century, the village was part of the Unzhensky siege of the Galich district. In 1639, a church "of Archangel Michael in the estate of Prince Vasily Petrovich Lvov on the Vetluga in the Vozdvizhensky stan" is mentioned.
