In 1835, a wooden Orthodox prayer house was built in Kazennaya Mayanga through the efforts of the parishioners. The parish was established a year earlier, and the staff included a priest, a deacon, and a sexton, who lived in the church house on public land. In 1845, on the site of the prayer house, also thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a wooden church with a bell tower and three altars was constructed. It was consecrated in the name of Archangel Michael, Saint Michael of Kiev in the right part of the refectory on May 20, 1846, and Nicholas the Wonderworker in the left part of the refectory. In 1865, a new Orthodox church appeared in Udelnaya Mayanga. It was built of wood through the efforts of the parishioners, had a bell tower, heating, and one altar in the name of Archistrategos Michael. The clergy included a priest and a psalmist, for whom public houses were provided. In 1885, a men's church-parish school opened in Kazennaya Mayanga, and in Udelnaya Mayanga, a mixed parish school began operating the same year.

In 1907, the wooden church in Udelnaya Mayanga was replaced by a new stone one. The stone church in the name of Saint Archangel Michael, built in Udelnaya Mayanga in 1907 through the efforts of the parishioners, became the main attraction of the village and one of the valuable architectural monuments of the Balakovo district. The warm building had a bell tower, an iron roof, one altar, and could accommodate up to a thousand worshippers. The church was consecrated on October 7, 1907, by His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of Ural. In the 1930s, the temple was closed by the Soviet authorities but avoided destruction.

In 1990, its restoration began, and on February 22, 1992, the Michael-Archangel Church was re-consecrated by the priestly order. Today, the temple has been fully restored, and the entire historical complex, along with the school and church house, has been returned to the community of believers.
