Church of Archangel Michael in Mala Malyshevka

Фото 1
In 1884, during reconstruction, the interior of the church was lined with galvanized iron sheets, which repeatedly saved it from fires. The iconostasis and interior decoration of the church were painted on these metal sheets. This painting technique was particularly popular in the Samara diocese in the 19th century and was mainly carried out by talented peasants. The richness of the church's interior is complemented by "Athonite icons," copies of holy icons created in the icon-painting workshops of the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery on Athos in Greece. These icons were brought home by pilgrims after visiting Athos. Among other relics of the church is a copy of the Tabynskaya Mother of God icon, as well as a relic of the blessed Saint Kosmas of Verkhoturye.

Despite the church deteriorating over time, its doors always remained open for parishioners, and services continued even in the most difficult times.
