The village of Labazy, located in the territory of the modern Kurmanaevsky district, was founded in the late 18th century. In 1839, it received the status of a village, and with the funds of local residents, a church was built in the name of Archangel Michael. This wooden church, which was a square structure with a small refectory and bell tower, was located in the village square, where the volost administration was also situated. The church functioned for almost a hundred years, but in 1930 it was closed, and its domes were destroyed. The building was used as a warehouse, and later its wooden frame was dismantled to use the materials for the construction of the district executive committee in the village of Kurmanaevka. The foundation of the former church can still be seen near the sports ground behind the village school. In 2012, a cross and a commemorative stone were installed near this site.

Since the historical site was built over, on March 4, 2013, a new location for the church construction was consecrated. On November 15, 2013, a cross was erected at this site, and construction work began based on the project by architects from NNP 'RONA' in Orenburg. In 2007, the building of the former local forestry office was handed over to the believers, where the House of Prayer of Archangel Michael now operates. It is located a few hundred meters from the site of the new church's construction.
