By the second half of the 19th century, Krasny Yar was a prosperous village with vast pastures for livestock, rich in grain and barns, sturdy warehouses, tent-like five-walled merchant houses, and estates of landowners. Perhaps this allowed the residents to build one of the largest churches in the province in 1879 and dedicate it to Archistrategos Michael, a revered saint. The golden-domed white stone temple, one of the largest in the province, was located on the site of the current music school and the district House of Culture 'Mechta'. The stone houses of the clergy have survived to this day and are located opposite the communications hub, where the priest and deacon lived. The bell weighing 220 poods sounded so powerfully that its ringing could be heard almost 20 versts away in present-day Novosemeykino even during severe winter blizzards.

One can imagine the grandeur of the temple, and the ancient icons that have survived to this day testify to its magnificence and wealth. The opening of the church in Krasny Yar had significant historical and moral importance. Although the construction was completed, the service in the church was postponed until a special holiday, Michael's Day. The opening ceremony on this day established it as the patronal feast in Krasny Yar. On November 21, 1879, on Michael's Day, at dawn, the church bell rang, announcing the first service. Festively dressed parishioners listened to the ringing of the bells, inspected the building, chapels, cells, and iconostasis. Before the service began, Bishop Seraphim announced a congratulatory message on the opening of the church from Emperor Alexander II and the Holy Synod.

Over the years, the prosperous church became even richer: the old icons were adorned with gold and silver, the altar, lamps, and vestments were inlaid with precious stones. The church provided assistance to parishioners, the state, the military, and monks. After 1917, revolutionary events swept across all of Russia, including the Samara province. In 1920, a powerful explosion caused the golden-domed Archangel Church to collapse.

For many decades, there was neither a church nor an Orthodox parish in Krasny Yar. In 1991, the revival of the Orthodox parish began. In 1996, the district administration transferred an ancient building on Sovetskaya Street for the church, and restoration work began. In 1997, an iconostasis was erected in the church, created by talented artists: S. I. Kudryavtsev, A. V. Andreev, and A. A. Vasilyev. In 2002, a bell tower was built with donations, and bells were installed, the largest of which weighs 650 kg. In 2003, the entire church building was restored, and the adjacent territory was improved.
