In 1653, the Church of Archangel Michael was built in Talsky Ostrog, which soon burned down. In 1693, by the decree of the holy Patriarch and at the request of the residents of Konoplyanskaya sloboda, it was decided to build a new church on the same site. In 1695, the Church of Archangel Michael in Konoplyanskaya sloboda was consecrated.

To this day, the stone church built by the parishioners in 1825 has been preserved. It had one altar dedicated to the Holy Archangel Michael. During the Soviet era, the church was closed, and it is now in neglect and is deteriorating.

The stone Church of Michael the Archangel in Konoplyanka was built according to a traditional scheme. It includes a temple with an apse, to which the refectory and bell tower adjoin from the west. The church is characterized by massive geometrically correct shapes and restrained decorative design.

The church is located on a high bank of the Taly River. Its composition includes a low square part of the temple with a rotunda, a semicircular apse to the east, and narrower refectory, bell tower, and narthex to the west. The temple with the apse, refectory, and lower tier of the bell tower have the same height and width, creating an elongated volume. Above it rises a rotunda with a dome and four upper tiers of the bell tower. On the dome of the church was a small cupola with a cross. The refectory was covered with a gable roof.

The bell tower consists of five tiers, decreasing in size towards the top, with arched windows and openings of various sizes. It was topped with a quadrangular dome with a cross on the spire.

A feature of the church's architecture is the inconsistency between the structural solution of the ceilings and its external appearance.
