In the village, the Orthodox Church of Archangel Michael has been restored and is functioning. The wooden church with an altar in honor of the Holy Trinity was built by parishioners in 1886. It is located on the northern outskirts of the village, on a hill by the river. The three-part parish church stands out for its significant height and is oriented along the east-west axis.

The temple has a pyramidal structure in the form of a cubic base, on which smaller cubes are installed in two tiers, decreasing towards the top, serving as the foundation for the crowning dome. This dome is made in the form of a tall octagon with a dome covering consisting of eight ribs. On the four sides of the octagon, oriented towards the cardinal directions and highlighted by pedimented gables, there are two windows. The composition is completed by a small cupola on a high faceted neck with a cornice-collar. The altar has a pentagonal shape and is covered with a five-pitched roof. The refectory is the same width as the temple and is covered with a gable roof.

The bell tower is multi-tiered, very tall and slender, tapering towards the top. The tiers and their finishes, made in the form of gables or horizontal cornices, harmonize with the composition of the temple, creating a unified whole. The upper tier of the bell tower, the belfry, is a light octagon topped with a tent roof adorned with decorative kokoshniks at the base. At the top of the tent is a cupola similar to that of the temple. A cupola is also present above the apse.

The church is built from round logs "in the oblo" and is clad with planks on the outside. The eastern part of the building stands on the ground, while the western part has a brick base with vents. Initially, the roofs were made of iron and were sloped; some of them were later covered with roofing felt. All windows have semicircular finishes and the same sizes. The tallest windows are located in the temple and the western narthex, that is, in the lower tier of the bell tower. They are decorated with smooth trim with pediments. The windows of the apse and refectory are smaller, their trims have a flat shelf and a small pediment in the center.

The facades of the church are adorned with a variety of decor: the window sills are divided by horizontal panels made of thin strips of semicircular cross-section, as are most of the facade elements. Similar friezes run under the horizontal cornices, and under the gables are dentil-like cornices applied to the facade. The motif of false round and arched windows has been used. Vertical strip pilasters cover all corners of the building, creating three-part divisions of the facades of the temple and refectory. The gables and kokoshniks emphasize the festive character of the building's decoration.

In 2016, the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Policy of the Ulyanovsk Region included the building of the Church of Archangel Michael in the village of Kholstovka in the list of identified cultural heritage sites of the region.
