The village of Godyaikino is about 300 years old. Prisoners were transported through it in shackles, making stops every eight versts. One of these stops was in Godyaikino. During the time of Catherine II, a good road was built from Godyaikino to Bazarniy Syzgan. The villagers are Mordvins.

Until 1870, Godyaikino had neither its own church nor cemetery. Residents had to walk to the church in the village of Sirseevo in the Penza region, located seven kilometers away, and bury their dead there. After the church was built in Godyaikino, a parish school with three classes was opened. Mainly boys studied there, while girls engaged in spinning, weaving, and knitting. The new church featured many expensive icons made of cypress wood, painted by skilled icon painters.
