The church was built in 1839 with funds from the parishioners. It had one altar dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The antimins was consecrated on September 25, 1896, by Bishop Guriy of Samara and Stavropol. The church building was wooden, with a bell tower on a stone foundation. Surrounding it was a wooden fence 40 fathoms long and 36 fathoms wide. The church occupied an area of 1695 fathoms and could accommodate up to 1500 parishioners. There was also a chapel dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, built in 1896 with funds from the parishioners in the village of Novenyye Khokhly. It was also wooden, with a bell tower on a stone foundation.

In 1909, a new stone church with a bell tower was built. It had three altars: the main one in honor of the Archangel Michael, consecrated by Bishop Tikhon of Ural on December 18, 1909, the second in honor of the Uncreated Savior, and the third in honor of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God. The church could accommodate up to 3000 parishioners and had a wooden watchman's lodge. The church cemetery was located outside the village.

The villagers raised funds for the construction of the temple. The first priest during the construction of the new church was Father Iakov Kryazhimskiy. The clergy consisted of two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists. There was an extensive library at the church. The bell tower housed several bells, including a 500-pud Blagovest, which saved people thanks to its "storm bell" that could be heard up to 30 kilometers away.

In 1930, the question of closing the church arose. First, the ringing of the bells was prohibited, then services were halted, and the priests were arrested.

In 1940, the authorities attempted to dismantle the church for bricks to build a public bath, but the church withstood the explosion. It was then repurposed as a grain storage facility, and carts, cars, and tractors drove through the main doors. Traces of caterpillar tractors are still visible on the floor.

In April 1947, the church was reopened, and services resumed. The priest became Vasily Kupriyanovich Khanin, and the deacon was A.S. Danilov. In 1963, Archbishop Varfolomey Gondorovskiy of Saratov and Volgograd transferred an antimins to the church, consecrated in 1911 by the holy martyr Germogen Dolganyov for one of the churches of the Volsk vicarage of the Saratov diocese.
