In the village of Bolshie Polyany, there were two churches, which, like the Kondrykinskaya church, belonged to the second Deanery district of the Lukoyanovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. The first church was built in 1751 and was a wooden single-altar building, consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael. After a century and a half, it fell into disrepair, and in its place, a new wooden church was erected in 1899, also single-altar and consecrated in honor of Archangel Michael. The parish of this church had 1,720 parishioners, including 81 dissenters, of which 32 were men and 49 women. The church owned 32 and a half acres of land.

The church staff included a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. In 1888, the priest was I.K. Troitsky, who wore a skufia, the deacon was A.P. Kritsky, and the psalmist was L.F. Topolev. At the beginning of the 20th century, the parish had 1,876 Orthodox and the same 32 men and 49 women dissenters. The clergyman was 75-year-old priest Yakov Kuzmich Troitsky, the deacon was I.V. Frolovsky, and the psalmist was F.A. Bronitsky. The church elder was Ya.A. Zaytsev.
