The parish church, built of stone, is notable for its durability. It has two altars: one in the cold summer part, dedicated to Saint Archangel Michael, and the other in the warm chapel on the northern side, dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The church was erected in 1797 with funds from the parishioners. Before that, a wooden church stood in its place. The village of Balakirevo, along with the villages of Semyonovskaya, Balakirevo, Davadkovo, and Khrenino, was part of the estate of the Yaroslavl Spassky Monastery. The icon of the Sorrowful Mother of God is especially venerated among the parishioners. Since 1904, a literacy school has been operating in the village, located in the building where the priest used to live. The staff includes positions for a priest and a psalmist. The state salary amounts to 392 rubles, and the parish capital in bonds is 1218 rubles.
