The first church, a house church, was consecrated in 1894. Until that time, an altar attached to the dining hall and consecrated in 1874 was used in the camp. The altar, along with the solea and iconostasis, was separated by a door that opened during services, transforming the dining hall into a church for worshippers. The second church, a camp church at Mayak, was built as a separate wooden temple in the Russian style, according to a plan approved by the Main Administration of Military Educational Institutions. The temple could accommodate up to 200 people and had a separate entrance through the sacristy. Funds for the construction of the temple were raised from donations by the staff of the corps, primarily thanks to the charity of the corps director, Major General Mikhail Evseevich Deryugin, and especially the senior of the corps, honorary citizen Alexander Zakharovich Zakho. The altars in the house church were consecrated in the name of the holy unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian, and in the camp church, in the name of the holy equal-to-the-apostles Mary Magdalene. The field church was attached to the Resurrection Church of the Nepluyev Cadet Corps.
