In the village of Mala Kandarate, the first church was built in 1729. After a fire in 1891 that destroyed the church, a wooden prayer house was constructed in 1894 with funds from Bishop Varsonofy. It was consecrated in honor of the holy unmercenaries and miracle workers Cosmas and Damian.
