In this village, the history of the church spans over two centuries, as one of the oldest temples in the Shigon district was built here. Churches were erected at this site multiple times. In 1794, parishioners built a wooden warm church, which burned down by the early 20th century. The next church began its history in 1902. It was significantly larger than the current one and richly decorated. Some icons were brought from Athos, and some images were adorned with beads.

The Cosmodemyansk church was closed in 1936. At that time, services were still held in one chapel, while grain was already stored in the center. Church icons were turned into school desks, boards, chairs, chests for the village council, bread boxes, and beehives. Children played with the beads from the icons. During the war, the church building was used as an orphanage for evacuated children from Leningrad, Novgorod, and Ivanovo. Later, it housed a children's boarding school. In the mid-1960s, the building was converted into a club. The Cosmodemyansk church stood for over 70 years until it burned down accidentally in the late 1970s.

In 2004, the foundation for a new church was laid. The first service was held on November 14, 2005, on the day of the holy unmercenaries and miracle workers Cosmas and Damian. The new church stands on the same site on a hill before the forest. It is not as large as the old one, but it is cozy and brings joy and comfort to all the believers of the village of Kuzkino.
