The church in the village of Aleksandrovka, Orenburg district, was built in 1857 and reconstructed in 1873. The church building was wooden, with a wooden bell tower, and it had sufficient utensils. The altar was dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian, miracle workers and unmercenaries.

The staff of the Cosmas and Damian church included a priest and a psalmist. In 1868, Aristarch Gumilevsky became the priest, and Mikhail Andreyevich Pokrovsky was the psalmist. According to the clerical report of 1900, the priest was Konstantin Stefanovich Vasilyev, and the psalmist was Pavel Ioannovich Smirnov. The priest lived in a house built by the parishioners, while the psalmist lived in rented accommodation. At the meeting of the Orenburg Spiritual Consistory on July 23, 1859, the issue of allocating land for churches, including the Cosmas and Damian church in Aleksandrovka, was discussed. It was decided to appeal to the Orenburg Chamber of State Property with a request to send a land surveyor for land allocation work. The clergy were allocated 71.94 hectares of land. The state salary was 94 rubles per year, and the parishioners contributed bread offerings. Income from services and donations from parishioners reached 400 rubles per year.

The closest churches to the Cosmas and Damian church in Aleksandrovka were the Mikhailo-Archangel church in Novo-Bogdanovka, the Cosmas and Damian church in Dobrynka, and the Dmitriev church in Gavrilovka.

In a separate wooden building near the Cosmas and Damian church, there was a church-parish school opened in 1891. It was built with funds from the Orenburg Diocesan School Council. The law teacher was Alexander Polyakov, dismissed from the second class of the Spiritual Seminary, and the teacher was his daughter, Serafima Mikhailovna Dubyanskaya, who graduated from a women's school.

There was no chapel or domestic church. The inventory of church property, income and expenditure books, metric books, and confession lists were kept meticulously and stored at the church. The church library had 30 books as of 1900.

The prosphora was Anna Nikolaevna Vinogradova, a widow, and the church elder was peasant Boris Maksimovich Emelyanov from Aleksandrovka.

The October Revolution of 1917 and the arrival of Soviet power changed the attitude towards religion, leading to the closure and nationalization of many churches. Instructions were developed for accounting and disposal of church property.

The Cosmas and Damian church in Aleksandrovka was likely closed in 1930, but it was not destroyed. The building was used as a warehouse, and in 1933 the bell tower was dismantled, and the church premises were converted into a village club. In 1956, the church building was completely demolished, and a House of Culture was built in its place.

In 1995, at the request of the residents of Aleksandrovka, the building erected on the site of the church was transferred to the Orenburg diocese. In the same year, Vasily Stefanovich Chubyk became the priest of the parish. Restoration of the building and its conversion into a temple began. During the restoration of the foundation, the remains of two clergymen were discovered and later reburied on the church grounds. Subsequently, active restoration work was carried out in the temple.
